Okay.
If I change my major in the next month, adding the first 2 credits of my senior honors thesis, I will be able to graduate from MSU in May.
Why?
Because if I remain an English-Secondary Ed. major, I go $20,000 into debt for student teaching and living costs after finishing class in May 2008. If I change to English Literature, I graduate this May, and have low enough Teacher Education credits to qualify for either New York City Teaching Fellowship or Washington D.C. Teaching Fellowship. Both would give me +$40,000ish as opposed to the student teaching option, which puts me 2 years back and -$20,000.
I have yet to fully research the Fellowships and find out how hard it is to get in. But I really have felt for the past couple of weeks that this is from God.
My own determination often clouds my judgment of what is God and what isn't. (Exhibit A: this summer.)
Please pray. Thanks, friends.

it sounds like youve got your mind made up already
it's true, i'm pretty close to having it decided. but i'm forcing myself to take a week and think/pray/seek.
oh, and an edit/addition to the post: i checked it out and the DC admittance rate is about 5%... the NYC admittance rate is about 20%... and i found out that there is also a program in philadelphia, and probably more elsewhere. none are accepting applications yet this year.
so you'd have to wait till next year?
no, they haven't started accepting applications, but they will be. so i have about 2 weeks to get it together and start applying, if that's what i do.
also found programs in chicago and in oakland, CA.
once i talk to the college of ed advisor who goes to my church (lovely, eh?) i will probably come to a decision.
this is an awesome opportunity :) i hope everything works out for the best either way
ditto what doni said.
i'm praying for you.
